Youth

St. Andrew Methodist Youth Fellowship

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity (1 Tim 4:12)
You are young; set an example.
(1 Tim 4:12 adapted)

It is  the VISION of the Methodist Youth Fellowship of St. Andrew UMC to guide youth towards a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ, encouraging them to follow the way of faith, love, and service as disciples so that they may reach the world with God's Good News and powerful Holy Spirit of reconciliation and new life.

It is the MISSION of St. Andrew MYF to:

  • Love our Lord with all of our heart, with all of our soul, and with all of our mind. (Mt. 22:37)
  • Proclaim the gospel of God's love to others by word, deed, and exampling a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Practice all that the Bible teaches about living as Christians.
  • Connect with people who will encourage and support our Christian faith and life.
  • Serve others in love.

The MYF, consisting of youth in grades 7 through 12, is advised by Associate Pastor Erik Hall, and Youth Leaders Glenn Morgan and Nancy Sigurdson. This group meets Sunday form 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. We meet together and positively influence each other with our friendship, games, humor, and creativity. We discuss the Bible and issues of faith that are relevant for our lives. We put our hands to work through a variety of projects. Average attendance in the MYF is approximately 30 youth.

Each year the St. Andrew MYF works to bring God's healing love to the world through mission. The MYF participates in World Vision's "30 Hour Famine" fasting to raise money for those who are really starving. We sponsor two World VisIon Kids one in India and one in Ghana. The MYF travels regularly to serve at the Neighborhood Center Inc. (an urban mission in Camden NJ), and travels yearly to serve in Appalachia (Thousandsticks Kentucky).

Highlight MYF events of the year include the Keswick Mid-Winter Advance and the Ocean City Youth Retreat. These weekend getaways are a great time to grow spiritually, build stronger relationships with God and each other, and experience the power and wonder of God.
