Virtues
Love God- We experience confidence and security, knowing God as a loving parent and friend. We experience encouragement knowing God cares for each of us and guides us. Knowing God leads each of us to love God; and loving God leads to our allowing God to know us.
Love People - We want to love others - to be motivated, encouraged, and speak truth in love to build others up. We seek to resolve conflict with love and make amends with the past. Since the Christian faith is relational, we will benchmark our maturity based on the health of our relationships.
Like the apostle John, we will say "If someone says, 'I love God,' but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar, for if we don't love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we have not seen?"
Grow Character - We seek to grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; this is what God produces in us when we yield ourselves to him. This personal aspect of growth is all about love; and to love God means to trust his Spirit to produce these fruits in us. This character growth isn't just personal joy or peace; but joy and peace that can be offered in love toward others.
Serve always - We desire to represent a growing role in building the Kingdom of God. Each of us has been given resources - unique gifts and abilities, finances or possessions, and available time to use under God's direction to love and serve him by uniting together to love and serve one another. Every person has a unique role to play in God's plans, but never alone; rather as a unique part of a unified effort with others, we re-present to the world what Christ is like as one body.
